GnuCOBOL or GCC COBOL Compiler Evaluation Service
Let Us Take the First Step for You
- You select “an application” for a proof of concept recompile
- You gather the programs and copybooks and upload them
- Private, secure storage just for your team
- Secure transfer protocols: SCP, SFTP
- We:
- Build a Project Repository (
git
) - Analyze the files and sort them (Programs vs. Copybooks)
- Build a Project Repository (
- Then:
- Programs are compiled (a Makefile is built and used)
- We inform you of missing Copybooks, hopefully you can upload them
- We fix problems associated with features of your compiler (dialects)
- We identify logic issues do not appear to be compiler related.
- We write a report on how it went
- We share the report and the repository
No, It’s Not Free 😉
- $US10.00 per 1000 lines in the files you provide up to 5M lines
- Over 5M lines, each 1000 lines is $US5.00
Caveats
COBOLworx will only attempt to compile the programs fixing “dialect-related” source issues. These are implementer extensions or historical usages that are no longer part of the COBOL International Standard (ISO-IEC 1989:2023). Other source issues will be reviewed with an eye to a workaround but are otherwise are out of scope and will be documented as such.
GCC COBOL is a new and intentionally incomplete compiler. For GccCOBOL we can not provide this service for COBOL that contains, in particular, XML, JSON, Report Writer, Object Oriented Programming, or SCREEN-related code.
Guarantee and Warrantee
We absolutely and positively guarantee we will do our very best to get as much of your code compiled without errors or troubling warnings, to document the problems, and to share as much information about what we did as we can.
If we simply make little or no headway, you will not be charged for any of our efforts.
