COBOLworx develops,
maintains, and provides commercial technical support for Free and Open
Source Software COBOL Compilers.
COBOLworx developed and maintains a new COBOL compiler, contributed to the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) in late 2024. GCC will release this new tier-1 GCC language in GCC 15 early Spring 2025.
COBOLworx
developed GCC COBOL to be compliant with the latest ISO-IEC COBOL
Standard. It integrates with the GNU Project Debugger
(
gdb
). COBOL now joins C, C++, FORTRAN and Go as a
first-class GCC language.
Integrating COBOL tightly into GCC makes it highly compatible with the native system and its libraries. COBOL is now an Open Systems and Cloud native language.
GCC COBOL
joins GnuCOBOL as a Free and Open Source Software compilers. Both are
free of license fees and usage restrictions. Both produce native binary
programs, optimized by GCC. Both conform to the latest International
Cobol Standards. COBOLworx offers commercial technical support plans for
developers and production use of both.
GnuCOBOL
has been under active development and use for over 25 years. It was
originally known as TinyCOBOL, then OpenCOBOL. GnuCOBOL has rich support
for the various dialects of COBOL and has been extended by COBOLworx
with the
cbl-gdb
source-level debugging capability.
COBOLworx offers commercial technical support for both GCC COBOL and GnuCOBOL. Our support covers assistance with COBOL language problems as well as issues with the compilers themselves. COBOLworx has a Web and email based ticket tracker with secure queues for each client. In addition, COBOLworx can provide professional services to directly assist in your projects.
